UPDATE! From Door County, WI

Hello everyone! I know it has been long long time since i have updated this... i have been very busy this summer working at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, WI as their Youth Arts intern. It has been a great job, and sadly it will be ending in two weeks! After I move back to Milwaukee in the fall, i am going to kick it into high gear and create create create! I just moved into a new house where we have two extra (empty) rooms, so you know what that means.... STUDIO! i am so excited to set up my computer, easel, and sewing machine and never have to take it down! it will be great and give me a space to concentrate on art and only art!

So far this summer i have been working on a couple different projects. On August 21st i wil be in a show of young door county artists ( that i helped curate) at Peninsula School of Art. I will be posting a flyer for that show shortly... and maybe a sneak peak of the work i will be showing.

For now here is the latest: it was a project/auction piece for Habitat For Humanity.... the rules were, go to the rehab store and pick out a piece to recycle and make into something beautiful. this was my final submission:

you may recognize the prints used on these lamps from my thesis exhibition (color.layer.pattern.light.) this has been my new challenge..trying to find a second use for all of the paper i printed for that show and i am happy i found use for it in this project.

The World of Doggie Pillow!

We all know how much i love dogs, so i decided a while ago that since i couldnt have a dog in my apartment, that i would simply scrren print some dog pillows for my couch (so that i could feel like i had a dog laying on my couch!). The ones i made for myself turned out ok, good enough for my roomates to put their heads on. . . they were of boston terriers ofcourse. Then a friend decided that he would really love some boxer pillows for himself. These turned out great! I costom made them just for him, hence the camo...

and my favorite...

If anyone is interested in custom pillows, even with your own dog, let me know through email.I can give you details!

Whats New??

Hi everyone! These past couple of months have been quite busy. I was gone for almost a month on a well needed camping trip to Nova Scotia, Canada, started a new job, and I am now ready to get back into the swing of things (making some new artwork!). I am pretty excited about it. I have some ideas for some 5 layer screen prints that I will be creating pretty soon. I am also going to start making some "functional art" like pillows, blankets, and bags. I have already been creating bags, but I might experiment with printing my own fabric, much like I did for the dress I made for my senior show at MIAD. Here are a few pics of the bags I have made so far:

Black linen bag with purple cotton inside

grey linen bag with green cotton inside (first bag I made)

tan natural fabric with black and white cotton inside

My favorite! Yellow linen and tan natural fabric with black floral cotton inside!

Here are some screen printed cards that i have made:

LAST but not LEASE! I am currently showing at GLAAS cafe in Sturgeon Bay, WI. It is a small show featuring the work of students from Sturgeon Bay high school that have gone on to study art in college! Here is what my painting looks like:

Alright I think I covered everything! Enjoy!
